The hoopla, hysteria and general hype are unrivaled around the NFL Draft, where the usual pomp and circumstance is filled with stylish suits, neck-draped bling, main-stage struts, Roger Goodell bro hugs and lifelong dreams realized. However, selfish gamers only care about one thing — Where does the rookie rank in the fantasy pecking order?

Here's an instant analysis of Omarion Hampton in the Los Angeles Chargers offense.

A whole lotta ball to the belly is on the menu in Los Angeles.

With Najee Harris already on the roster, Hampton — the No. 22 overall pick — brings additional heavy metal to a Chargers offense destined to finish well inside the top 10 in run rate this season.

After Ashton Jeanty (the No. 6 overall pick by the Las Vegas Raiders), Hampton is the clear-cut second-best rusher in this year’s NFL Draft. Last season at North Carolina, he greatly impressed whether on numerous highlight-reel runs or via the ample supportive advanced numbers. He finished his junior year top-six in total yards after contact (1,222), YAC per attempt (4.36), total missed tackles forced (73) and total breakaway runs (26).

At 6-foot and 221 pounds, Hampton is a load to bring down. His sharp cuts and explosiveness in the open field can leave would-be tacklers grabbing air.

Immediate take: This isn’t the sexiest landing spot for Hampton. He and Harris will often cannibalize one another, possibly creating an indecipherable hot hand situation each week.

Still, if the Chargers’ offensive line investments pay off, Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman are sure to be ground-heavy, likely presenting Hampton with at least 11-13 touches per game.

Going at RB21 and around pick No. 51 overall in early 0.5 PPR drafts, the youngster is likely to slide into the RB26-RB30 range come August — an appropriate valuation.

Dripping with three-down potential, Hampton is a quality RB3 addition to any 12-team fantasy franchise. He oozes FLEX-y sexy appeal.
