Each week, the Noise highlights under-started names who he believes are destined to torch the competition. To qualify, each player must have started in fewer than 60 percent of Yahoo leagues. Speaking as an accountability advocate, I will post results, whether genius or moronic, the following week. Scoring thresholds (0.5 PPR) – QB: 18 fantasy points; RB: 12 fantasy points (10 for shockers); WR: 11 fantasy points; TE: 10 fantasy points.
Tank Dell, WR, Texans
| Start pct. | 56% on Yahoo |
| Matchup | at Jaguars |
| BetMGM line | Texans -5 |
| BetMGM total | 43 points |
| BetAlytics projection | N/A |
Similar to another well-known Tank, we’re hoping to streak the quad with this endorsement.
Yes, Nico Collins should nuke arguably the worst secondary in the league, but Dell is also likely to emit measurable radiation. After all, the Jaguars are a bottom-basement No. 32 in dropback EPA defense, yielding the third-most fantasy points to wide receivers. In total, 10 WRs have scored at least 13.0 half-point PPR points against Jacksonville this season.
Examining the matchup under the microscope, Dell is slated to exchange holiday greetings most often with cornerback Ronald Darby, a defender with holly jolly tendencies. Over the last five weeks, he’s allowed two touchdowns, a 68.4 catching percentage, 137.8 passer rating and the 18th-most yards (197) of any defensive back.
Dell is the definition of “hit or miss.” He’s failed to reach double-digit fantasy production in six weeks, but he’s scored at least 10 or more points five times. No doubt, he's a gamble.
Truthfully, there’s nothing earth-shattering about Dell’s advanced metrics. The Texans wideout ranks top-15 in total route wins, but he’s also painfully mediocre in yards per route run (WR66), total YAC (WR44), fantasy points per route run (WR67) and total air yards (WR31).
It explains his inconsistency. C.J. Stroud’s instability has only amplified the unpredictability.
Still, the attractive matchup screams OPPORTUNITY. It’s just too damn irresistible.
A little Home Depot. A little Bed, Bath and Beyond. A little Tank.
If you're shopping for upside, roll the dice on Dell.
Fearless Forecast: 4 receptions, 56 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 14.6 fantasy points
Week 13 Bonus Flames
Jerry Jeudy, WR, Browns
| Start pct. | 30% on Yahoo |
| Matchup | at Broncos |
On the same plane as a hot peppermint mocha on a cold winter’s day is tailing the REVENGE GAME narrative in fantasy. Expectations for Jeudy were once mile high in Denver. Broncos fans and management truly believed the former Alabama standout would transition smoothly to the next level, developing into a viable franchise WR1. Of course, mediocrity instead took hold. In his four years at elevation, he did post one WR2-worthy season in 2022, but the other unmemorable campaigns only ramped bitter feelings. The 2020 No. 15 overall pick is starting to live up to his promise. Over the last four weeks, he and Jameis Winston have forged an instant connection. During that stretch, Jeudy is averaging 9.0 targets, 6.0 receptions and 94.8 receiving yards per game. Jeudy also ranks No. 11 in total air yards and No. 3 in route wins among WRs on the season. Logging about a third of his snaps out of the slot, he should see a ton of Ja’Quan McMillian, Denver’s weakest defensive link. Since Week 8, the Broncos DB has given up a 75.9% catch rate, 111.3 passer rating and the sixth-most yards (260) of any defender. Serve that dish cold, Jerry.
Fearless Forecast: 5 receptions, 72 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 15.7 fantasy points
Noah Gray, TE, Chiefs
| Start pct. | 1% on Yahoo |
| Matchup | vs. Raiders |
Mr. Taylor Swift may get all the headlines and notoriety, but Gray has made some serious noise in the box score the past couple weeks. Registering at least 70% of the snap share in four of the last five weeks, he’s scored two touchdowns in back-to-back games. His advanced analytics don’t exactly inspire confidence, but with top-six rankings in both average yards of separation per target and fantasy points per target, the profile features a couple of hidden gems. With Gray’s increased red-zone role and Patrick Mahomes’ growing confidence spinning spirals in his general direction, the popular waiver claim is worth heavy debate in Week 13. On Black Friday, Gray has solid odds of finding the end zone again. Over the last five weeks, the Raiders have allowed THE most fantasy points to TEs, surrendering 9.0 receptions, 100.0 receiving yards and six TDs. In the end, a Gray day could bring fantasy managers nothing but sunshine.
Fearless Forecast: 3 receptions, 36 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 11.1 fantasy points
Season record: 15-17
