The hoopla, hysteria and general hype around the NFL Draft is unrivaled. Thursday’s first round will be filled with the usual pomp and circumstance with stylish suits, neck-draped flashy bling, main-stage struts, Roger Goodell bro hugs and lifelong dreams realized. However, selfish gamers only care about one thing — Where does the rookie rank in the fantasy pecking order? Here’s instant analysis of Daniels in the Commanders offense.

No. 2 overall pick — Jayden Daniels, QB, Washington Commanders

As expected, it didn’t take long for Daniels' name to be called as the No. 2 overall pick. The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner is everything fantasy managers daydream about.

Though slenderly built at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, Daniels is unfazed as a determined producer via the ground or the air. Scouts have questioned his pocket presence, but there’s no denying he owns all-fields throwing ability and the chunk-gain wheels to dazzle the gaming masses.

According to Pro Football Focus, Daniels finished in the top six in adjusted completion percentage and big-time throw rate last season with LSU. His arm is impressive, but, again, because of his rushing effectiveness, he is an instant QB1. Frankly, the landing spot didn’t really matter. Playing for a Commanders squad with a suspect defense only enhances his chances to finish inside the position's top 10.

A poor man’s Lamar Jackson? Statistically speaking, Daniels might be a mirror image straight away. Just stay upright.
