Primetime NFL games bring in the numbers -- and the bets. In an attempt to boost gamer bankrolls, this only occasionally profitable bettor will attempt to stack greenbacks under the lights. As always, fade or follow -- that’s up to you.
The Pick: Carson Wentz OVER 10.5 rush yards at Chargers (-115, BetMGM)
Halloween heroes exist in many shapes and sizes.
The house in your neighborhood may be outwardly average in appearance with only the standard carved Jack-o-lanterns decorating the walkway, but a bountiful prize awaits.
Your kid, dressed in an inflatable frog costume, hops to the illuminated front door, rings the bell and blurts out the holiday phrase that immediately pays. To his astonishment, a full-sized Snickers lands at the bottom of the bag. Score.
Those searching for a savior in the props market should look no further than Wentz. And, no, we’re not talking about wagers affiliated with his useful arm.
Galloping in the open field, he may not possess the caramel smoothness of Lamar Jackson or Jayden Daniels, but his strides on opportunistic gains are often quite tasty. This season on 2.8 ground attempts per game -- most of those unscripted scrambles -- Minnesota’s redheaded rascal has averaged a fair 14.3 yards per game.
Jesse Minter’s defense is as hell-bent at getting after the quarterback as most. This season, the Chargers rank a middling No. 21 in pocket pressure rate (17.6%). Many multidimensional passers have, however, taken advantage of L.A’s flimsy front. Only the Cowboys and Giants have yielded more rush yards to the quarterback position. In total, Jim Harbaugh’s gracious bunch have given up 30.6 rush yards per game. Hell, Geno Smith scurried for 20 ground yards against them. He’s one of five passers who’ve reached the 11 yards required.
Hoping to start off the betting week with a bang, the elevated backup’s legs should be more treat than trick.
Eat a Snickers, Carson.
