With football officially on ice, it’s time for junior circuit fans to dedicate game-watching to the hardwood. After all, the MADNESS is just around the corner.
Just past the halfway point of the college basketball season, what VALUE future has the Noise’s undivided attention? Read below.
Iowa State to win the Big 12 (+200, BetMGM)
The Cyclones are a destructive force capable of leveling the college basketball landscape. “Twisters” star Glen Powell would most definitely agree.
Iowa State is a cohesive bunch that works in concert on both ends. With a 7-1 mark over their last eight games, the Cyclones rank a modest No. 88 in effective field-goal percentage, but their efforts on D are quite noticeable.
Standing at No. 10 in adjusted defensive efficiency on the season, they relentlessly hound the opposition via constant traps and pass-lane jumps. Also, T.J. Otzelberger’s bunch has forced a turnover on 23.8% of opponent possessions.
Houston is the projected regular-season king of the Big 12, but with Iowa State forecasted to finish 16-4 in league play, it is undeniably in the mix. The lone showdown against the Cougars in H-Town on Feb. 22 could decide the throne.
The Cyclones need to get healthy — Milan Momcilovic is out indefinitely with a hand injury — but Curtis Jones, Keshon Gilbert, Joshua Jefferson and Tamin Lipsey pack title-worthy firepower.
