Season-long player props are beginning to surface across sportsbooks. Hallelujah! In an attempt to uncover values, Brad Evans will occasionally make the case on an attractive future — whether betting the OVER or UNDER — as the outside temps rise.

Today’s topic: Jaxson Dart passing yards.

The pick — Jaxson Dart to lead Giants in passing yards (+400, DraftKings)

This is hardly an inaccurate wrist flick, after several adult beverages in, that’s bound to impale an innocent bystander standing several feet away.

At 4-to-1 odds to set the organization’s pace in passing yards in his inaugural campaign, Dart is worth the throw.

The Giants traded back into Round 1 of the NFL Draft to secure the former Ole Miss quarterback’s services for the love of the gambling gods. Do you honestly believe the No. 25 overall pick will ride the pine for the majority of the season?

With the rookie expected to be a mental sponge behind Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston early on, one can only hope Dart doesn’t learn about Dangerwiches, cornball postgame comments or the “benefits” of going 30 (touchdowns) for 30 (interceptions) in the same season. There’s much to gain from his veteran teammates’ experience and expertise, but Giants fans should pray the negativity will not rub off.

It’s not a matter of IF but WHEN Dart takes the reins as the franchise’s primary passer. Circle Week 7 for when he ascends into the captain's chair.

According to ESPN’s Mike Clay, the Giants — despite their investments on defense — are projected to lose each of their first six regular-season games. In fact, Clay only projects a New York win probability of 42% or less in each of those initial matchups.

Drink up, Big Blue. Two wins a third of the way into the season could be a stretch.

Whether expressed on local sports talk radio or at various Manhattan watering holes or shouted repeatedly from the MetLife Stadium stands, “Start Dart!” demands are sure to ratchet up — and quickly.

Scouts have questioned Dart’s overall arm strength, deep ball accuracy and inexperience under center. However, with his mobility in the pocket, generally unflinching poise and relatively pinpoint throws on short-to-intermediate tosses (No. 6 in adjusted completion percentage in 2024), he has attractive skills that, once developed, could make him a reliable QB1.

Having Malik Nabers as your WR1 also helps. Last season, New York’s target hog totaled the 18th-most route wins of any NFL wide receiver.

Yes, it’s another months-long payoff, but when building your futures portfolio, strongly consider the opportunity above.

DangeRuss is merely keeping the seat warm.
