It took an empty-netter to cash the over in Kings-Blackhawks on Monday, but I’ll take it! Chicago’s addition of goalie Spencer Knight could be a steal. He was amazing against Los Angeles with 41 saves in a 5-1 victory.
Anyway, onto the next matchup between two teams battling for wild cards.
The pick — Utah Hockey Club ML (-110, BetMGM)
Utah enters the Motor City coming off a 3-1 home loss to New Jersey, but it has won six of its last nine games. The Hockey Club currently sits four points behind Calgary for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
The Red Wings are struggling, having lost three straight and five of their last seven. They’re currently one point behind Ottawa for the final wild card in the Eastern Conference.
This game is a toss-up, as both clubs are -110. But I like the visitors.
Utah is playing the better brand of hockey and is more desperate. The club formerly known as the Arizona Coyotes have owned the recent head-to-head matchups, winning seven of the last 10 games including the last three by a combined score of 12-5.
