After enjoying the 4 Nations Face-Off, we’re back to our regularly scheduled action on the NHL, where the playoff race is heating up.
The Devils came out of the break losing 4-2 to Dallas at home with Jack Hughes scoring their only goals (something Team USA needed more of against Canada). New Jersey bounced back last Sunday with a 5-0 road beatdown of the Predators.
Meanwhile, the Avalanche have lost two straight since the season resumed, falling 2-1 at Nashville and 3-1 at St. Louis. Colorado has lost 11 of its last 20 contests since a mid-December six-game win streak and will be happy to be home.
The Avs need points to keep their place as a Western Conference wild card. Desperation plus elevation should equal a win for Colorado, which shut out the Devils 4-0 in New Jersey in the teams’ previous meeting in December.
