After three-straight moneyline losses, I need to stop the bleeding in the worst way. I’m switching gears to get my mojo back.
And I’m going with the guy who currently sits second on the NHL’s all-time goal-scoring list.
Ovechkin’s Capitals are atop the NHL with a league-best 69 points, and they are definitely the surprise story of the season. They continue their current road trip in Seattle, having won six of their last seven games.
The Kraken are coming off back-to-back home victories and are currently six points out of the Western Conference’s final wild-card spot. They will have their hands full against a Washington bunch that is tied for first in the NHL in goals (167) and features the man who will eventually be the greatest lamplighter the sport has ever seen when Ovechkin passes Wayne Gretzky’s 894 career tallies.
Ovi was on a tear when he returned from injury in late December, but the 39-year-old has cooled off, managing just two goals in his last eight games. Against Seattle in his career, Ovechkin has scored three times in six games.
I don’t see him going goal-less for a third-consecutive game, so give me Alex the Great for an anytime goal.
