The gravity-defying dips, head-jerking twists, and hairpin turns — Detroit’s stomach-churning, week-to-week rollercoaster can make any hardened fantasy manager queasy or downright elated. Frankly, there’s no in-between.

Sure JaMo ranks as a premium WR3 in 0.5 PPR formats (WR27), but as witnessed in his near-donut Week 3 performance in a favorable matchup against Arizona (1 catch, 9 yards, 0 TDs), Williams is susceptible to random disappearing acts. In a run-based offense — David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs have carried the rock on 49.2% of team snaps — that also features Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta, air work can disappointingly become scarce.

Just look at what Williams has lured the past two games. In matchups against the Cardinals and Seahawks in Weeks 3 and 4, he totaled an uneventful five targets.

His channeling of Houdini explains why fantasy managers remain largely reluctant to start him. However, Week 6 has strong odds of reaching a peak. Williams' matchup — in a game with a total in the 50s, mind you — is spectacular.

Dallas’ supposedly stingy secondary has been way too welcoming, as the unit ranks No. 19 in dropback EPA defense. Trevon Diggs has mostly lived up to the hype, but Caelon Carson has underachieved. Possibly back in the lineup after missing the last two games with a shoulder injury, the Cowboys’ weak link has surrendered a 119.6 passer rating, 66.7 catch percentage and 14.3 yards per catch in 81 coverage snaps. Best of all, he’ll likely be Williams’ primary matchup.

As his top-12 rankings in yards per target (11.6), aDOT (13.9) and yards per reception (22.2) unmistakably show, Williams is the definition of “chunk gainer.” In a marquee matchup with shootout appeal, backers who purchase a ticket for Detroit’s thrill ride should hold their lunch. Bank on a peak and not a valley.

Fearless Forecast: 3 receptions, 71 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 14.6 fantasy points

vs. Commanders

The magnitude ahead of this year’s Battle of the Beltway might be in the running for highest ever recorded. Due to the radiance of Jayden Daniels and Lamar Jackson, both teams are on a fiery playoff pace. Yes, even the Commanders. It's snowing in hell. With a total sitting at 52.5, standout fantasy performances should be plentiful in the regional rivalry. Why not Bateman? The overlooked downfield threat has tallied double-digit fantasy production in two of the past three weeks. Overall, he’s an impressive No. 7 in aDOT (14.9) and No. 19 in yards per reception (15.5). His 15.3 target share percentage (3.5 per game) is not encouraging, but all it takes is one streak connection to leave your fantasy adversary despondent. Washington ranks a miserable No. 26 in pass EPA D, surrendering the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers. Most promising, Bateman’s projected primary assignment, Benjamin St-Juste, has allowed the sixth-most yards (285) of any DB along with a 110.8 passer rating. Be Golden, former Gopher.

Fearless Forecast: 3 receptions, 48 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 12.3 fantasy points

vs. Cardinals

It’s true looks may be deceiving, but for those who’ve gobbled up servings of shells ’n’ cheese, Kraft has delivered nothing but tasty results. In Yahoo leagues, he trails only Brock Bowers and George Kittle in total fantasy points scored by tight ends. At a position where several notable names have flopped, Kraft has brightly burned as a fantasy flame. His ascension is no optical illusion. His 4.3 targets per game lend some pause, but ranking No. 1 among TEs in total red-zone looks (4), No. 2 in YAC and No. 1 in yards per catch (13.6) while boasting a 112.6 passer rating when targeted, Kraft’s secondary profile sparkles. Expect his outward radiance to continue in Week 6. The Cardinals are No. 27 in dropback EPA D, and they contained Dalton Kincaid (1-11-0) and Sam LaPorta (2-36-0) earlier this season. However, as Kittle’s 8-64-1 explosion last week proved, Arizona is a plus matchup. Green Bay’s TE is Kraft-y. The Beastie Boys would agree.

Fearless Forecast: 3 receptions, 36 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 11.1 fantasy points

Season record: 7-7
