The Pick: Caleb Williams OVER 1.5 pass touchdowns at Commanders (+110, BetMGM)
The tightest spiral in NFL history, Warren Moon, hopped on BetMGM Tonight last Thursday much to the delight of this owner of considerable Houston Oilers memorabilia.
We chatted about a variety of topics, but one subject in particular this curious mind wanted to know: What was the Pro Football Hall of Famer’s opinion on Caleb Williams?
Moon talked highly of the young passer’s development, praising his progressions and quicker release. Naturally, his view was pinpoint accurate.
Elevating his game in Year 2, Williams is rapidly maturing. Yes, he’s an undesirable QB32 in adjusted completion percentage entering Week 6, but a respectable QB15 in deep-ball and QB17 in red zone completion rates, he’s made noticeable strides. His escapability from crowded pockets has only enhanced the overall gameplay.
Fantasy players concur. At QB5 in fantasy points per game through five weeks, Williams has posted three multi-TD performances in just four contests.
Another pair of end-zone strikes is likely in the offing.
Through five games, the Commanders are a middling No. 17 in dropback EPA defense, allowing 8.15 pass yards per attempt and 254.4 pass yards per game. Most importantly for the purposes of this piece, Dan Quinn’s bunch have surrendered a trio of multi-TD QBs.
In a game with a sizable 49.5 total, a bye-week refreshed Williams slings at least touchdowns.
To the Moon indeed.
