I don’t want to jinx anything, but I’m totally going to jinx it by saying I’m on a heater this month.
And I’m going to ride that momentum in a Western Conference showdown.
The pick — Jets ML (-135, BetMGM)
Vegas is on a three-game win streak but hasn’t played since last Friday’s 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars. The Jets ended a four-game skid last week and have won three of their last four contests, including an 8-1 home rout of Boston on Tuesday.
While the Golden Knights beat Winnipeg 4-3 in the teams’ first meeting of the season on November 29, I like the Jets in this spot for a few reasons.
Despite Vegas being a rested bunch, I like the team that is coming off a convincing win and playing in its home barn. Also, while most of the analytics have these two squads neck-and-neck, there’s one stat that stands out.
Winnipeg ranks No. 1 in the NHL in goals for above expected, so I expect the Jets to get the edge in a tight game.
Since these two teams are so evenly matched, the under of six goals feels like a good play as well at -120.
