Winnipeg Jets (14-1-0, 28 points) at New York Rangers (9-3-1, 19 points)
Date: Tuesday, November 12
Time: 7 p.m. ET

If it feels like it’s been a few weeks since I hit a wager, well, you would be right. Not even the Minnesota Wild could break me out of this funk.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, so I’m turning to the best team in hockey.

The pick — Rangers UNDER 3 team total goals (-110, BetMGM)

This wager is for the Rangers, but it’s all about the Jets and their ability to shut down teams. Winnipeg has allowed just one goal over its last three games, and that lone tally came in garbage time of Saturday’s 4-1 home win against the Dallas Stars.

Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is currently the odds-on favorite (+200) to win the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s top goalie. He’s won the award twice and is poised to become the first three-time Vezina winner since Martin Brodeur.

The Rangers are no slouch to netminding either. Igor Shesterkin currently has the second-best odds in the Vezina race (+230), and New York has allowed the league’s fewest goals (30). Winnipeg has yielded only one more goal while playing two more games.

The Jets’ dominance can’t be understated while producing the best 15-game start in NHL history. They’ve only allowed two teams — TWO — to score more than three goals this season.

If you want to take under 2.5 goals for the Rangers at +135, I don’t hate it. However, I’m playing it safe because right now a push would feel as good as a win.

Season record: 6-8, -0.25 units
